Description

The Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) was created by the Kentucky General Assembly to administer water planning and provide financial assistance for water infrastructure projects across the state. KIA accomplishes this objective by partnering with each of the 15 Area Development Districts across the state to facilitate long-term water planning, and promote regionalization and partnerships, which provide Kentuckians access to safe, reliable, and affordable drinking water and sewer. KIA currently administers 850 grants and 591 loans with nearly $2 billion of investments in clean water and drinking water infrastructure across the state including the regionalization of package wastewater treatment plants, addressing emerging contaminants, construction of treatment works, collection, and distribution infrastructure, stormwater infrastructure, and the inventory and replacement of lead service lines. This presentation will provide an overview of KIA and the loan and grant programs it administers with federal and state funds along with cases of successfully completed and currently funded projects.
