Description
Everyone in the workplace, from CEOs to entry-level operators, needs to communicate on a daily basis. But when personalities clash, even a mundane instant message or short conversation can lead to unintended emotions and conflict.
Ashley Griffin (Brown and Caldwell, INTJ) and Michelle Schofield (AWWA, ESFP) may not be psychologists or communication professionals, but combined they have decades of experience in sending emails, managing committees and project teams, and learning to play to their coworkers' strengths for best results. Plus, they’ve managed to become friends despite being opposites on all four spectrums of the Myers Briggs personality type.
In this presentation, Ashley and Michelle will:
· Share insights from Susan Cain’s bestselling book QUIET,
· Discuss personality tests such as Myers-Briggs and the Enneagram,
· Raise awareness around the impact of ADHD, autism, and other neurodiverse conditions on communication, and
· Suggest other resources to help managers and coworkers empathize, collaborate, and communicate well with people across the introvert-to-extrovert spectrum.
Working with others requires all sorts of communication skills, some of which may not be to our personal preference. With examples and anecdotes, Ashley and Michelle will encourage self-awareness and offer tips for interactions in the workplace and beyond. Their goal is to demonstrate that although introverts and extroverts approach communication from our own perspective, there is always a middle ground that leads to true teamwork and movement forward.
