Regina Hanson has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles. She joined Varec Biogas in October, 1997 and has over 25 years of experience in biogas and anaerobic digestion processes. When Ovivo acquired Varec Biogas in 2019, Regina became part of the Biosolids Management and Resource Recovery Group and now manages the sales group for both Biosolids and Biogas product offering, which includes anaerobic and aerobic digestion, nutrient removal and recovery, and biogas systems.

Regina has extensive knowledge of North American codes and design standards related to anaerobic digestion and biogas systems. She is also familiar with EPA and state regulatory requirements relative to flare emissions. She is technical committee member for NFPA 820, Fire Protection Standard for Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facilities and was reviewer for MOP 8 (Design of Water Resource Recovery Facilities).
