In this presentation, Abby will present background data on bourbon including what distinguishes bourbon from other alcoholic beverages, and she will discuss the recent Bourbon Boom and what this has done to the communities of the Commonwealth who are treating the wastewater from this popular industry. The industrial wastewater has high BOD concentration due to the sugars used and the alcohol formed during the bourbon making process and we will discuss how this has affected the wastewater plant.
