System Management
Description
Many utilities invest in expensive Asset Management and work order software packages to manage their system. However, with the monetary investment of purchasing software licenses comes training investment to ensure that staff know how to implement it. Additionally, this software is often not easily customized to the client’s current datasets or needs or workflows. By leveraging software commonly utilized by utilities, such as Microsoft Office 365 and ESRI ArcGIS, custom work order systems can be created. These web-based systems are surprisingly easy to implement and offer customizable tasks and interactive field maps. Field workers can eliminate the need for traditional paper reporting and populate responsive reports with a mobile device to capture live data on the go. Users can interact with real time metrics allowing seamless communication between field workers and office staff. This presentation will provide a case study in the implementation of a customized work order system for the Hamilton County Wastewater Authority (WWTA).
