Louisville Water Company has a long history of collaborating with schools and childcare facilities to monitor and address lead sources. The introduction of new EPA LCRI regulations necessitated the updating of communication materials and the creation of new tools to support compliance. Despite existing structures, the transition to a compliance program posed challenges. A collaborative strategy and timeline were developed to address these tasks, resulting in the creation of a checklist of materials, including required templates with EPA language, supporting graphics, and website communication tools. This initiative emphasizes the importance of a coordinated approach to ensure regulatory compliance and educate customers. The checklist serves as a comprehensive guide for water utilities, providing them with the necessary resources to effectively monitor, educate and address lead sources. The project highlights the significance of collaboration and strategic planning in achieving successful outcomes. Louisville Water began grandfathering data under LCRI requirements January 2025.
