Description
How do you take a 57-year-old sewer treatment plant, with no major upgrades in more than 30 years, and transform it into an award-winning facility? The City of Dunlap’s sewer treatment plant has a long history, first constructed in 1968 with modifications made in 1976 and 1987. Although it was still operating under permitted capacity, the City knew upgrades needed to be reviewed as the aging plant continued to deteriorate. Upon the Croy team’s visit to the site, it became apparent that while the facility was functioning, within regulation, its current condition would need continual maintenance and equipment failure was imminent. Following the visit, our team determined high-priority upgrades that would meet both the needs of the City and remain within the allocated budget. Now complete and a 2024 Engineering Excellence Award recipient, the project will have long-lasting positive impacts on the community, and future growth needs, for years to come. Join us as we walk through the complexities of the project, followed by the new upgrades. Key components we will discuss include: •Sequencing constraints •Funding adherence – getting the biggest bang for your buck •Engineering design challenges
