Description

Universally, submersible pump stations require unclogging & cleaning from a common villain: flushable wipes. But there is now a solution with direct inline pumping which eliminates the root cause of this issue: the wet well. We will discuss the factors that cause wet well issues and routine (planned & unplanned) maintenance and share case studies including one from Highland City, UT where a suction lift station was having issues with ragging, H2S eroding the piping, and pump station overflows into a nearby river. The city needed a solution that was robust and maintenance-free and moved from a traditional suction lift pump technology, to a new direct inline pumping system. By removing the wet well & lifting influent directly from the gravity invert, fats, oils, & greases, along with wipes and any other culprits, cannot separate & solidify. Fibrous material is kept in solution, and ejected as it arrives. Because the influent is contained, it cannot become atmospheric, eliminating odor & dangerous gases. Also, removing the wet well eliminates well maintenance. There is no collection of grease on basin walls or leaching into adjacent soil or ground water. Direct inline pumping is changing the world one wet well at a time.
