In today's environment, it is critical that water utilities protect their networks from outside threats. Utilities are increasingly targeted by different types of malicious threats and disasters on a weekly basis. Regardless of the size of your organization, it is critical to develop a security plan or audit what is currently in place. Employees at all levels should take ownership in protecting the utility, including the planning stages. Effective leadership plays an important role in embracing cybersecurity best practices for the organization. Using First Utility District as an example, this engagement will describe industry best practices on developing a security initiative, new state regulations and actionable security advice for the water sector.
